Overview

In order to promote the athletes, Sports persons and boost ethnic sports, Jindal Foundation has been inspiring youths for pro –growth paradigm, upgrading the fitness and skill sets of the local youths with appropriate input of nutrition and coaching and facilitating them to participate in various platforms from district to national and international level . Maintenance of stadiums and playgrounds is an on-going activity undertaken in the remote locations, by the Foundation. Jindal Foundation undertakes several sports promotion activities & nurture young talents basically rural & tribal talents.

Moreover, schedule VII of Companies Act 2013 specifies as per its activity 7 that training to promote rural sports, nationally recognised sports, Paralympic sports and Olympic sports to be considered as a CSR activity.

Sports
  • WUSHU Martial Art- With an objective to promote and motivate sportsmanship among rural youth, Wushu and Kick Boxing a form of martial arts training was started at Sialijoda of Deojhar Gram Panchayat in the year 2011 initially covering 30 students at Barbil in Odisha. Currently 349 players are been trained regularly in 3 different locations. The players from the communities are representing the country in international level tournaments winning the individual matches and becoming champions in the event. The project covers 315 trainees from Deojhar Gram Panchayat and Barbil Municipality. Over 90 players participated out of which 75 won medals in the international, national and state level tournaments. Over the years 83.33% is the winning rate of the players during the period. India has got 2 nos of medals, one Gold and a Silver from the international tournaments. Mr. Babulu Munda from Barbil, Odisha has won Silver medal in the 7th World Wushu Championship at Brazil in July'18 and Miss Manju Munda from Barbil in Odisha has won Gold Medal representing India in the Moscow Stars Wushu Championship at Russia.

  • International level tournaments – 3 Gold medal
  • National level tournaments – 25 medals
  • State level tournaments – 53 medals
  • 4 players selected for Junior World Wushu Championship 2020.
Sports

Football: OP Jindal Football Tournament:

  • OP Jindal memorial Football Tournament is organised across the location every year. Now, the District Athletic Association is also supporting these teams through sports kits and coaching.
  • Regular coaching on Football.

Women Football Team: Patratu:

  • Regular coaching & nutrition support to 20 players of women football team.
  • 7 players from Jindal Foundation Girls' Football Club represented district level team in State Level Tournament and secured runner-up position.

Kho- Kho & Kabaddi: Raigarh & Angul

  • Regular Coaching and support with sports kit for the players at Raigarh and Angul.
  • 20 players participated at State level team in Kho-kho and Kabaddi, 3 Kabaddi players participated in National Tournament.
Sports

Coaching is imparted in Martial Arts, Hockey, Archery, Football, Kabaddi and Cricket. The youth engaged in the sports are supported with training programmes and coaching. Facilitation for enrolment of the local and tribal youths at Sports Authority of India is being done by the Foudation. We also support the youth engaged at our sports centre with appropriate nutrition. Local tournaments are organised on regular basis for encouraging the partcipation and sportsmanship amongst the local youths.

OP Jindal Cricket Academy was established in year 2018 at Gharghoda Cricket Stadium, District Raigarh, Chattisgarh. The main objective of establishing this Academy was to provide quality cricket coaching with state of art equipments and facilities for nourishing the budding cricketing talent of the area. Jindal Foundation JPL Tamnar provides latest bowling machine along with ball and cricket kit, cricket practice net and turf for coaching and practice session, full time qualified cricket coach and round the year maintenance of Cricket ground. Around 150 rural youths and adolescent girls are taking free of cost coaching. 8 youths from Academy selected in district level cricket team and 3 in state level team, Academy also organized various cricket tournament conducted by CGCA along with OP Jindal Cricket tournament.

Sports

National Bal Bhavan (NBB) is an autonomous body under Ministry of Human Resource & Development. This autonomous institute was established in Delhi in the year 1956. This is a premier apex centre for enhancement of education and creative capacity among children. The Bal Bhavans conduct various activities for children. Efforts are being made to bring out hidden creativity of children through activities of Bal Bhavans.

One of the objectives being the efforts taken by the Bal Bhavan is to encourage sports along with creative arts among its member children through the various facilities in-house.

The Foundation took an initiative to renovate the existing the sports centre at the Bal Bhavan in Delhi so as to help the organisation with its aim to introduce and encourage more full-time activities especially solo sports which ensures a career in times where India is surely producing champions in Badminton, Chess, Shooting and so many more. Sports activities are a great catalyst for development, raising aspirations, improving health. With the aim to bring focus on sports activities and introducing newer sports disciplines like shooting, chess, carom and Jindal Foundation facilitated the renovation of the entire sports arena which was renamed as "NBB SPORTS CENTRE". The inauguration of the renovated Sports Centre was done by Honourable Union HRD Minister, Shri Prakash Javadekar in December 2018.The Foundation also has engaged a full time shooting coach at the centre.

Sports

Jindal Foundation has signed a partnership with The International Hockey Federation (FIH) for the later’s development programs. FIH and Jindal Foundation will be working closely for the development of hockey over the coming months. This partnership will also see the Jindal Foundation coming onboard the ongoing FIH Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup 2023 Bhubaneswar-Rourkela as a Global Partner.

It has been a matter of great pride and privilege for the nation to host the Men’s Hockey World Cup. Hockey has deep foundation touching and binding millions across the country. At Jindal Foundation, we are committed to bringing the social change through sustainable development for the people and for the nation at large in-turn making a difference to millions at the ground level. People of this nation are the common factor for our partnership with FIH for the ongoing Men’s Hockey World Cup and we are proud of Hockey as the Sports of our Nation’s passion.
