Martial Art

Key Initiatives:

  • WUSHU Martial Art- With an objective to promote and motivate sportsmanship among rural youth, Wushu and Kick Boxing a form of martial arts training was started at Sialijoda of Deojhar Gram Panchayat in the year 2011 initially covering 30 students at Barbil in Odisha. Currently 349 players are been trained regularly in 3 different locations. The players from the communities are representing the country in international level tournaments winning the individual matches and becoming champions in the event. The project covers 315 trainees from Deojhar Gram Panchayat and Barbil Municipality. Over 90 players participated out of which 75 won medals in the international, national and state level tournaments. Over the years 83.33% is the winning rate of the players during the period. India has got 2 nos of medals, one Gold and a Silver from the international tournaments. Mr. Babulu Munda from Barbil, Odisha has won Silver medal in the 7th World Wushu Championship at Brazil in July'18 and Miss Manju Munda from Barbil in Odisha has won Gold Medal representing India in the Moscow Stars Wushu Championship at Russia.

  • International level tournaments – 3 Gold medal
  • National level tournaments – 19 medals
  • State level tournaments – 53 medals
  • 4 players selected for Junior World Wushu Championship 2020.
